About Senior Send a Smile

The holidays can be a lonely time for older residents without family. The City partners with local senior living facilities to identify those residents who could use some holiday cheer. Since 2020, over 4,000 holiday cards have been decorated and distributed to Elk Grove seniors through the Send a Smile project.

The City will provide card-making kits with everything you need to craft a special holiday wish including a pre-addressed stamped envelope, cardstock, and stickers. Your help is needed to decorate each card, write a holiday wish, and drop them in the mail.

Community organizations who would like to request a larger quantity of cards must complete a bulk request form.  The request form is for Elk Grove non-profits, community groups and Elk Grove Unified School District classrooms, not to be used for individual use.  Requests can be made for a minimum of six cards to a maximum of 35 cards.  Requests will be reviewed and fulfilled in order received after December 5, while supplies last.

2025 Bulk Request Timeline

• Request Form Opens: November 10 at 8 am
• Request Form Closes: December 3 at 5 pm
• Email Notification of Request Status: December 5
• If approved and notified, pick up at City Hall between: December 8 – December 12
  • Please bring a copy of approval email and provide it to reception to pick up cards.
• Drop cards in mail by: December 19
