Notice of Compliance under the ADA and California State Law
In accordance with the requirements of Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) (as amended), the California Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA)(as amended), Sections 504 and 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 (as amended), and California Government Code Sections 12926 and 11135 and other applicable codes, the City of Elk Grove does not discriminate against qualified individuals on the basis of disability in its programs, services, and activities.
Employment
The City of Elk Grove does not discriminate on the basis of disability in its hiring or employment practices and complies with FEHA and all regulations promulgated by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) under title I of the ADA, including the requirement to provide reasonable accommodations.
Effective Communication
The City of Elk Grove generally, upon request, provides appropriate aids and services leading to effective communication for qualified persons with disabilities including qualified sign language interpreters, documents in large print and Braille, assistive listening devices, real-time captioning, and other ways of making information and communications accessible to people with speech, hearing, vision, sensory, motor, and cognitive disabilities so they can participate equally in the City’s programs, services, and activities.
Modifications to Policies and Procedures
The City of Elk Grove will make all reasonable modifications to policies and programs to ensure that people with disabilities have an equal opportunity to enjoy all of its programs, services, and activities.
