Elk Grove 101 Alumni Testimonials

"Elk Grove 101 is a good opportunity to learn a tremendous amount material about our community, with a pleasant group of "neighbors" you might otherwise be unlikely meet." – Thomas

"Whether you think you know it all about your local government or not, I highly recommend this behind the curtain peak of how the City of Elk Grove keeps us safe, healthy, happy and welcoming to all!" – Luis

"As Elk Grove has matured as a city, it has built a city government staffed by professionals who take pride in managing and improving our city at the direction of our elected leaders. At Elk Grove 101, you can learn how the city thrives from the people who are making it happen day to day. This program incorporates not only informative sessions on how our city functions, but also meaningful engagement with city staff and fellow residents. If you care about the present and future of Elk Grove, do not hesitate to enroll in this enlightening program." - Jeanne

"I highly recommend it so that people can feel more connected and able to get more involved in the city. The course, along with getting to know people from each department, made the separation between the city staff and residents a lot smaller. I’m much more inclined to attend city events, join organizations, and to be more active in voting/attending city meetings. I feel like I can and should be involved, whereas before it felt like there was an invisible barrier from entry." - Savannah

"If you feel you know about of City, join the program and you'll quickly realize how much more you can learn. Discard any thoughts that government employees lack commitment, are in it just for self-promotion and are non-transparent as you'll see and hear the exact opposite in every session and with every City staff person you encounter. The commitment may seem long and somewhat daunting at the onset, but you'll (soon) get involved, impressed, have fun and learn a ton." - Walt

"Do it! The program provided an in-depth look at the city and community I live in, from history and governance to the services and people who make Elk Grove a thriving growing city…being able to connect face-to-face with local leaders, community members, and other participants created space for real, distraction-free conversation and questions. The resources shared throughout the cohort were equally impactful, offering access to public information and data that helped me better understand how decisions are made and how I can personally contribute to my community’s growth. This experience deepened my appreciation for Elk Grove and strengthened my sense of connection to the place my family calls home." – Katherine
